Dublin summer - events and festivals you must attend
June 13, 2017
While some of us are trying to get out of the city for those warmer summer weekends, the ones who decide to stay in the city will not regret it! Summer is jam packed with events and festivals – music, food, comedy – you name it. Here is our pick of the top 5 must attend events for everyone spending this summer in Dublin.
Dublin Pride Festival. This year the festival will run from June 16th to June 24th, with the Dublin Pride Parade taking place on Saturday, June 24th at 2pm. There will be a rally at Stephens Green from 12 noon at the start of the parade. At 3pm, there will be a huge party at Smithfield Square, which is the end point of the parade. For more info and details on events check the official website.
Longitude music festival takes place on the 14-16th July. Winner of 'Best New Festival' and 'Best Medium Festival' at the Irish Festival Awards 2014, it’s a three day non-camping festival situated in the heart of Dublin (Marlay Park) and is ideal for someone who cannot stand the thought of living in a tent for 3 days. The line-up caters to every taste, which is quite rare with festivals nowadays. For the line-up and tickets go to www.longitude.ie.
Vodafone Comedy festival - The feel good event of the summer will feature an impressive line-up of over 80 comedians who will perform in five fully seated indoor venues in the unique and stunning surroundings of The Iveagh Gardens, in the heart of Dublin. For all you comedy lovers, the festival is taking place on the 27-30th July. For more info and tickets check their website.
Summer Series 2017. Probably the most urban and accessible festival ever, happening on the 6 – 11th July on the grounds of Trinity College Dublin! It's a brand new event that’s about to spice up the summer season. Once all the students have cleared out of Dublin's most famous university, the first 'Summer Series' will roll in for a marathon of five nights of wonderful music. Expect some jazz, blues, soul, indie and indie-pop brilliance! For tickets go to www.ticketmaster.ie.
Beatyard Festival, taking place on the 5-6th of August in Dun Laoghaire Harbour. Do you like music? Do you like food? If the answer is yes to both of these questions, this is the one for you. Eatyard, Dublin’s favourite street food market with 50+ food areas, demos and food competitions will join forces with Brewtonic Bars (dedicated to craft beer), Studioyard Art (Design, & Tech Installations) and many more to bring you this event.
