My name’s Christine, I’m a French woman from Paris, and I have a 10 year-old son called Alexandre.

Why am I here studying English in Dublin?

Well, when the pandemic struck in 2020, I was locked-down with my son, giving me plenty of time to think. I came to the conclusion that instead of working remotely in France, I could just as well work remotely in another country, giving Alexandre the chance to learn another language. Therefore, after the pandemic was over, I asked my company whether they would agree to let me work 100% remotely in Ireland.

And they refused.

I was very disappointed, but all the same I kept the idea in my mind. As a matter of fact, I’ve always dreamt of being fluent in English, and somehow, this would have been difficult if I had had to work only in French all day long. So, one year after I asked for a sabbatical from my company, which had no choice but to accept (according to French Law, the only thing they could have done is to postpone it).

When I arrived in Dublin in August this year, I already knew that I wanted to attend an English course, but I wasn’t sure which one to choose. After some searching on the internet, I decided on ISI because it seemed to be a serious school.

And I don’t regret it.

Although the fee can appear to be high in comparison with other schools, and aside from the fact that the facilities are old-fashioned, the school provides:

  • experienced and passionate teachers,
  • a large range of extra-curricular activities, most of them being free,
  • willing, open-minded and empathetic students, coming from all around the world.

I also appreciate the support given by the teachers: thanks to them, my CEFR level went from B2 to C1 in a relatively short time and without them, I wouldn’t have had the courage to enrol for the CAE Cambridge exam.

In conclusion, I would say that ISI plays an important role in my well-being in Ireland. So if you’re looking for an English school in Dublin, go for it: never will you receive a better education!
