Dublin, being the multicultural society that it is, hosts a Lunar New Year celebration each year. This year the festival runs from 3rd to 11th of February.
2024 is the year of the dragon.
Food at Meeting House Square
Food pop ups from local suppliers and restaurants is common this time of year, with Bahay bringing some amazing Filipino flavours. Seoul Kitchen serves authentic Korean dishes, or you can venture to Drury Street and Asia Market, where they host family-friendly entertainment and treats, like dumplings and bubble tea.
Asian Wonderland
The Asian Wonderland at Hill Street Family Resource Centre takes place on February 11th from 2pm to 7pm. Providing a wide range of entertainment and activities, including workshops, traditional music and cultural performances, the event is open to the public.
Libraries
As they do throughout the year, Dublin’s libraries, including the Central Library in the Ilac Shopping Centre, provide recommendations based on themes. Pop in and find something to read, and sign up for a free library card in the process.
Workshops
The Hugh Lane Gallery, Chester Beatty Library and the National Gallery of Ireland all offer unique and creative workshops, including lantern making, the Chinese knot challenge, and Year of the Dragon masterpieces.
