General English Courses
We offer an exciting range of General English courses for all levels, from elementary to advanced. All programmes provide a good foundation in the main linguistic skills, with a strong focus on communication. Students may study for any duration, taking from 15, 20, 25 or 30 lessons per week. The 20 – 25 hour programmes allow students to focus on key areas including conversation fluency, business English and examination preparation. The 30 hour programme is made up of 2 X 15-hour programmes and is suitable for short intensive study. Some courses can be taken in the afternoon at a lower cost.
General English 15
Key Points
- Suitable for any student who wishes to improve their English in a less intensive way
- General ‘all-round’ approach
- Revision of major grammar and vocabulary at each level
- In-house examinations
- More time for out-of-class activities
Entry requirements
Age 16 + with at least a basic knowledge of English (A1 level). Those who are complete beginners will have to enter a one-to-one programme until A1 level is achieved and an extra fee may be charged.

General English 20
In addition to the General English 15 programme, this 20 hour programme includes 5 specialised elective lessons each week which you can choose after your arrival. Elective examples include:
- Conversation Skills
- Examination Preparation (FCE, CAE, IELTS)
- Grammar and Writing
- Pronunciation
Key Points
- Suitable for students who can spend more time in class, but still take part in out-of-class activities.
- General ‘all-round’ approach plus a focus on one chosen skill.
- Revision of major grammar and vocabulary at each level
- In-house examinations
Entry requirements
Age 16 + with at least a basic knowledge of English (A1 level). Those who are complete beginners will have to enter a one-to-one programme until A1 level is achieved and an extra fee may be charged.

- Suitable for students who want a more academic experience, spending 5 hours per day in class
- General ‘all-round’ approach plus a focus on two chosen skills from the list above
- Revision of major grammar and vocabulary at each level
- In-house examinations
Less time for out-of-class activities

General English 30
Students take two General English 15 programmes – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. While this may lead to some repetition, this 30-hour per week course provides excellent revision and reinforcement of grammar and the main linguistic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

- Suitable for students who want a completely academic experience with little time for out-of-class activities
- Total immersion
- General ‘all-round’ approach, no electives on specific skills
- Strong reinforcement of all major grammar and vocabulary at each level
- In-house examinations
